Scholarships/Financial Aid

Financial Aid Info

  • Types of financial aid:

    • Scholarships - Special awards given for a variety of reasons including academic or athletic
    • Grants - Money given based on financial need that doesn’t have to be paid back
    • Work Study - Money earned by working part time at the college
    • Loans – Borrowed money
  • Check for Scholarships by local organizations such as your church, parent’s employer, and clubs such as the YMCA, 4-H Club, Elks, Masons, and Kiwanis.

  • Talk to the admissions of financial aid offices at the schools you’re considering.  Many offer academic scholarships for special talent, such as athletics or performing arts.

  •

Avoid online scholarship searches of agencies that charge fees for their services.

  • It’s best to use savings or financial aid to pay for college.  However, it may not be possible.  Remember, there is always a way to go to college.  It may be that you have to borrow the money from a student loan lender.
